Senator Roxas files electoral protest

The running mate of President Noynoy Aquino, Senator Mar Roxas, officially filed his electoral protest today, Friday. In the petition, Senator Roxas questions the results of the May 2010 vice-presidential election. He asked the Supreme Court (SC) acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal to consider the uncounted null votes of more than 2 million. Votes totaling to 727,084 is the lead of VP Jejomar Binay over Senator Roxas as compared to the number of null votes that could make a difference on the results depending on the automated election rules to be applied.

No wedding bells for Noynoy & Shalani

According to Viel Aquino-Dee, one of the sisters of Senator Noynoy Aquino, the wedding is the low priority for now for his brother. Given a 5 million difference to the second in line former president Joseph Estrada, Aquino is said to be the “President in waiting.” Once Noynoy assumes office as the 15th President of the Philippines he will be busy doing his functions and so as Shalani Soledad who won again as councilor in Valenzuela.

2010 Elections: COMELEC, PPCRV & ABS-CBN latest partial official results

[Updated as of 7:25pm Philippine Standard Time, May 12, 2010]

Looking at the latest partial official results, another Aquino is likely to lead and hold the highest position of the land for six years starting June 30. Although Villar, Teodoro, Gordon and Delos Reyes already conceded to Aquino, the second in rank former president Joseph Estrada is awaiting for the Congress to officially canvass the votes and officially proclaim the winners of the 2010 Elections.

As to the Vice-Presidential race, it is really a hard fight between Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay and Senator Mar Roxas. With more than 800,000 votes difference these two candidates are indeed in suspense awaiting all votes to be counted and know their respective standings. Does Senator Chiz Escudero’s endorsement to Binay had to do with Binay’s outpouring of votes? Will it be BINAY or ROXAS?

2010 Philippines Elections Results

Philippines especially the national and local candidates of the recently concluded 2010 Elections are still waiting for the final results of votes prior the official announcements of COMELEC and the Congress. I have been visiting the website of COMELEC for the elections results and have this page wherein I need to browse down the precinct level to see the results.

I guess the above page is very useful to local candidates to know their current standing as the canvassing of votes goes on. For now I am satisfied with the elections result being shown on the news awaiting COMELEC and Congress pronouncements.

Mikey Arroyo runs as Ang Galing Pinoy representative

After her mom, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, decided to run for Congress in the 2nd district of Pampanga COMELEC allows Mikey Arroyo to represent security guards, FX taxi drivers, tricycle drivers and street vendors under the “Ang Galing Pinoy” party-list group.

I really can’t believe how COMELEC deliberates on the qualifications of our party-list groups and their nominees as well. Is party-list now a money-for-money arrangement? Maybe, but what is important is for the voters to discern the truthfulness and clean conscience of these party-list groups to represent the marginalize sectors. It is now more of self-serving tactics for politicians and not actually for the benefits of our marginalize sectors.

COMELEC Precinct Finder

Three days from now and the Philippines will hold its first automated elections. As a voter myself, it is a mix emotion of excitement and fear. I find automation a way to ease the voting process for fast results but with the current events that coming out now I can’t help but fear on how the 2010 Elections will turn out. Of course I am still hoping and praying that it will be a peaceful, honest and clean one.

For voters, maybe you may find this link, COMELEC Precinct Finder, very helpful to know in advance where to go on Election Day to cast your votes. Go out and vote wisely!

Willie Revillame endorses Mar Roxas

Will it be Senator Mar Roxas for Willie Revillame? The renowned and controversial Wowowee host will reveal on Saturday the candidate he is rooting for the vice presidential race. But if you can’t wait as to whom Willie said “My favorite colors are orange and blue.” That was the bombshell that Senator Loren Legarda will not like or maybe a confirmation to her. Willie never raises her hand on any Nacionalista Party rallies and I guess this is the answer.

Willie to endorse Mar Roxas

Marian Rivera: I'm a psychology

Actress Marian Rivera is one of the controversial celebrities this 2010 Elections when she said “I’m a psychology” in an interview. It happened when the actress defend Senator Noynoy Aquino from his detractors about his mental health. Well I guess this issue is of a minor one and a simple sorry for the mistake will do besides Marian is a Filipina. Just a piece of advice, if she can’t express herself in English maybe she say it in Tagalog to avoid controversies like this. Honestly I seldom see Marian Rivera on TV because I do watch Channel 2 but I guess that’s the price she had to pay for being famous.

Configuring 76,000 PCOS flash cards

What happened during Monday’s mock polls was indeed forbidden. After long discussion for the automation of our election between law makers, COMELEC and Smartmatic-TIM I guess there are still important agenda overlooked by these bodies. In just days to go before the 2010 Elections it is only now that they will admit an error in configuring the PCOS machines’ flash cards. Will it meet the deadline in configuring the said flash cards? Only them will know. But whatever happen in the election, COMELEC and Smartmatic-TIM must be charged with different election cases because they seem not to ensure a smooth and clean automated election.

Is Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) really endorsing the tandem of Senators Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas for president and vice president respectively? As I was having dinner with my mom, dad and hubby we were able to talk about the issue but no confirmation yet. Well I guess in just 7 days more before election day, we will hear the much awaited announcement from INC as to who will they officially support.

Manny Villar & developers' housing scam

I just seen this news on TV about housing developers’ “housing scam” and really pity those victimized by it including government agencies. It concerns the low cost housing project of developers who are accused by the victims of manipulating their documents and giving them sub-standard houses. Again for the nth time, Senator Manny Villar’s company is said to have been involved again in the housing scam.

Kris on Manny over TV commercial ad

Kris Aquino, sister of LP’s presidential bet Senator Noynoy Aquino, said over Manny Pacquiao “Unlike you, Noynoy undefeated in polls.” This is her reaction after seeing the TV endorsement of Manny (known supporter of Senator Manny Villar) saying that his brother has not proven his real worth in politics. I have seen the said ad and I guess that is something understandable on both sides. That is the way Manny endorsed Villar and that is how Kris defended his brother’s credibility and capacity. I guess after the elections everything will be fine because there is nothing permanent in politics except interest.

Villar, Vista Land & PSE issue

I am really curious about this Villar, his Vista Land and the Philippine Stock Exchange controversy. At first I heard Villar saying that the money he is using in the campaign came from his real estate firms that gives him billions of pesos. Now come the controversy again about his ethics as a Senator of the country appearing in a PSE board meeting discussing an issue about Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc. Below is a link about the said issue that you may wanted to read to enlighten also about the controversy.

The Inside Story of Villar’s visits to PSE
