Miss Earth 2011 & Miss Philippines Earth 2011

The 11th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, Miss Earth 2011, is scheduled on November 19, 2011 at the exotic city of Pattaya in Thailand. After last year’s pageant held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, this is the second consecutive year that it’s held outside the Philippines. On 2012, the pageant will return in Vietnam.

Update on Miss Phillippines Earth 2011: Jonavi Raisa Quiray from Puerto Princesa won the coveted Best in Swimsuit Award. A title holder, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2008, her experience makes her a fierce competitor in the 2011 Miss Philippines Earth pageant. Special award winners during the swimsuit competition are Michelle Gavagan (Miss Golden Sunset) and Murielle Adrienne Orais (Miss Gandang Ricky Reyes).

9 or 10 candidates will be eliminated this Saturday in Calapan, Mindoro as the competition heats up. The coronation night of Miss Philippines Earth 2011 will be held in Puerto Princesa on June 5, 2011.

Miss Earth 2008 is Miss Philippines

Our very own Karla Paula Henry, a Cebuana, won the prestigious title of Miss Earth 2008. The finale and coronation night was held last Sunday at the Clark Expo Ampitheater in Pampanga. Ms. Philippines also won the 2008 Miss Earth’s Designers and Miss Photogenic awards. The Top 4 beauties of the night are the following:

• Miss Philippines’ Karla Paula Henry (Miss Earth 2008)
• Miss Tanzania’s Miriam Odemba, Miss Earth Air (1st runner-up)
• Miss Mexico’s Abigail Elizalde, Miss Earth Water (2nd runner-up)
• Miss Brazil’s Tatiane Alves, Miss Earth Fire (3rd runner-up)

The four were asked what would they tell the recently US President-elect Barack Obama regarding the state of the global environment if they where able to meet him. Ms. Henry said she will encourage President Barack Obama to implement environmental knowledge as part of the schools’ curriculum not just in the US but in the Philippines as well.

The other four beauties who where included in the magic 8 were Miss Colombia’s Mariana Rodriguez, Miss Spain’s Adriana Reveron, Miss Switzerland’s Nasanin Nuri and Miss Venezuela’s Daniela Torrealba. Congratulations ladies!!!

All is set for the coming Miss Universe 2008 to be held in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam on Sunday, July 13, 9-11pm. The CAO Fine Jewelry located in Vietnam has created the coveted 2008 Miss Universe crown. It was designed by Rosalina Tran Lydster of Jewelry by Rosalina and Ms. Dang Thi Kim Lien of CAO Fine Jewelry.
