Bachelor of Education @ Nipissing University

The Nipissing University has branches in North Bay, Brantford and Muskoka District in Ontario Canada. The Nipissing University Act of 1992 created the Nipissing University and dissolved the Nipissing College. It became a chartered university on December 10, 1992. Said act elaborated the structure and duties of the Board and Senate, established the positions of Chancellor and President as well as their roles and method of appointment, and outlined the transition matters between the former college and the new university. The Act was amended in 2001 to allow Nipissing University the power and authority to grant “any and all degrees, honorary degrees and diplomas in all branches of learning.” Also, minor amendments were made to clarify terms of office for Board and Senate members.

Currently, the Nipissing University is accepting applicants to the Bachelor of Education program with the following qualifications: must hold a recognized undergraduate degree, all required teachable subject courses and be able to provide a transcript indicating that the degree has been conferred by June 2012 to be considered. Also, applicants must have a minimum of ten full courses (20 semester courses) to their undergraduate degree, not including advanced standing credit, to be eligible for consideration.

As part of Nipissing University’s policy, it encourages applicants who are aboriginal, members of visible minorities and differently-abled persons. Upon receipt of application, information will be sent for self-identifying but applicants under special admission criteria must still meet the minimum admission requirements.

Slots in the Bachelor of Education program are limited. Primarily, the selection of candidates will be based on academic achievement. Hurry and check out their website because the first round of offers of admission will be on April 1, 2012.

NMEDA promotes safe driving & equipment for disabled people

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

One thing disabled people are deprived of is their capacity to travel even alone or with their love ones. Usually they are confined within their homes or in an institution that deprive them on their freedom to travel places, enjoy life and be happy. Boredom is one thing that usually felt by people with disabilities and that make them even harder to accept and move on with life with their incapacities.

NMEDA is the answer. What is NMEDA and what they can do for people with disabilities? NMEDA stands for National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association which is a non-profit trade association. They are known internationally as an organization dedicated to ensuring quality and professionalism in the manufacturing and installation of safe and reliable mobility equipment in vehicles for people with disabilities. The association does not sell anything. It promotes safe driving and equipment for disabled people.

NMEDA dealers (members) are the ones selling handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people. They are required to adhere to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and to follow the association’s guidelines as a member. Also, QAP or the Quality Assurance Program is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry. It was developed to promote quality, safety and reliability within the industry based on the principle that in order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality. Thus in some states, there’s a requirement for dealer’s participation in the QAP to perform work for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program.

The needs and preferences of disabled people vary. To get assistance from a qualified NMEDA dealer just visit nmeda.org and hit the dealer’s locator, type in your ZIP code and see the qualified dealer near you.

Let NMEDA dealer help elderly or disabled get back onto the road of independence.

Jobless licensed Pinoy nurses

Years ago, Nursing profession came with a big bang having thousands of nurses are in demand to work abroad like USA and in Europe offering lucrative salary. Since then, a big increase of students taking up Nursing was noted as well as the Nursing schools. But after the recession declared by USA and sudden decrease in demand for nurses on other countries the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) is face with the hundreds of thousand jobless licensed nurses in the country.

The above scenario resulted in the oversupply of nurses locally and that there are no enough hospitals to accommodate them. In working abroad, nurses need at least two-year work experience in 250-bed hospitals. Some jobless nurses came to a point of paying a certain amount to health facilities to able them get the training and the required credentials. The low salary being offered locally adds up to the burden of our nurses thus the PNA is pushing for the implementation of Republic Act 9173 of the Nursing Law.

This dilemma also affects the parents of those jobless nurses and appealing the support from the government to resolve the issue. Temporarily, licensed jobless nurses apply to call centers that are paying quite high than those health facilities.
