Charter's Ultra60 Mbps, the Phatband technology

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

Internet forms part of people’s lives from all walks of life. For a full time housewife and a blogger like me going online is one ordinary task I have in my ever day list. I love to cook and internet is a big help for me to improve and learn many dishes about this stuff. Exchanging emails with my love ones and friends that really save me not only time but moreover on the expenses. Checking out the latest and hottest news in town plus the newest issue about my favorite artists and watching previews of several movies available.

Being a blogger, I prefer of course the fastest internet speed I can avail of. I do open several windows simultaneously because I am involved in several online stuffs. Slow (especially very slow) internet connection really sucks for every internet user. I hate to wait. Imagine waiting for minutes just to download a page. Ugh! It is so excruciating and a waste of time.

Lucky for those people in Saint Louis because they can enjoy the benefits of having charter ultra fast 60. I can’t imagine loading a page with just a split of seconds. For sure streaming my favorite HD movies, games for my kids and more will be a lot easier and fast. With the help of the new phatband technology services like these are not far behind and they can even surpass internet user’s expectations in every inch of preferences.

Currently, we are using DSL and I am completely frustrated. I may not be a techie person but I guess the cable internet technology will be a lot satisfying. Can you bring Ultra60 Mbps here Charter? It is hard dealing with just a 1-5 Mbps service I have right now and your Ultra60 Mbps will be a great Christmas present.

Importance & power of web directories

I remember when I was just started setting up my personal blog way back March of 2008, my friend/mentor told me to list down the blog in many web directories as much as I can. Being a newbie in the world of blogging of course I asked then how important it is to add my blog in a certain web directory. Traffic is very important for any blog and listing it to many established and trusted web directories I am much assured that it will help me gain exposures among its searchers. As days go by, I saw visitors coming from the web directories where I listed down my blog from my traffic map and list of referrers.

There is nothing to lose adding a blog from these web directories because most of them are free or you just need to exchange link with them. A very cheap price as compared to wide exposures and endless traffic you will gain for your beloved blog.

Among the biggest and most common web directories in the net is Yahoo! Directory being utilized by bloggers like me as well as business blogs all over the world. Listing my blog on its proper category (and sub-category) give I a chance to be came across by people looking for information that fits my blog’s theme. Gaining traffic in the web will eventually give me a good page rank and with that subsequently make me earn much than what I think of. On the other hand, Business.com is a huge directory for various businesses to list down their site to gain more traffic/visitors and more of that exposures will eventually lead to more sales thus more income.

Of course by now I well understand the importance of web directories and much more of what I gain from it. As long as these web directories exist I know there are more people to come and visit my blog.

Time for gardening

Recent typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng devastated many things (properties, businesses, communication, agriculture, etc.) and even claimed many lives. It really saddens me to see the aftermath and fear for what has yet to come if we still not do something about our nature and surroundings.

At home, my family is lucky to be spared with the raged of both typhoons but not to some relatives. For several days now I am busy gardening, cleaning and beautifying the area. When I look at my garden, the colors, flowers and the aura gives me a feeling of peace and serenity. I have trees and several plants in my garden. The strong wind and rains of typhoon Ondoy brings trash and damage in my garden and that is what I am dealing right now. I cut dead stalks and broken leaves and support plants with stakes against strong wind. Christmas is nearing and I want my garden to be in order and look great again. November till January is the cold and rainy season perfect to work in my garden.

Keep a garden at home to provide shelter and food to other creatures. See as birds and butterflies roam in your beautiful garden. Watch as your fruit-bearing trees and flower-bearing plants bloom. What more is you have a place for your family where you can relax and enjoy the view. Happy gardening!!!

Farming @ Farm Town

Social networking is really hot in the net. I never thought that I will have my own Facebook account someday. I do have my Friendster account already and I practically able to communicate with old and present friends. I find it hard to maintain the 2 accounts but I can’t help to give way to my curiosity. I saw different games on Facebook and I thought that it will help me ease the sleepiness while blogging. Not because blogging is boring but because I am physically tired taking care of the chores and the kids the whole day and do blogging at night.

Farm Town is one of the games I deal very seriously at Facebook (LOL). I just love farm living. It is peaceful, no pollution (air and noise), simple living and very relaxing. I dreamt of making my dream farm (my own hacienda in the net) so I go for it till I made it. Although the picture you see now is not yet completely done (still need to level up) I could say that just by looking at it gives me the feeling of serenity and peace. How I wish it is that easy to own such a property nowadays where I can spend my life peacefully and happy. But there are lots of games you can find at Facebook you can play with and maybe that's the reason why people enjoy using it. Thanks to the genius students who made this one. Facebook just started as a school project and now there are millions of people around the world who appreciates and enjoy FB.

I check my FB account from time to time and take care of my farms and my kids’ farms as well. If you have a Farm Town account give me a buzz so we can be neighbors. See you at Farm Town.

Housewife @ Work's Facebook account

I already got a Facebook account. It all started from invites that reached my email, hearing it from TV and lastly when a friend showed me how it works. At first, I had a second thought of joining because I am afraid not to return the favors my friends will do for me. Also, I thought it’s more of socializing and chatting with online friends. But when that friend introduced me the vast list of games I can deal with I got interested to have my own account.

At night when I am in front of the computer and doing my online stuff I really feel sleepy knowing that I am the only one awake. Glad to know Facebook to keep me awake and do short time entertainment to help me carry out for the rest of the night. I already tried FarmVille, Farm Land, Barn Buddy, and several others. From time to time I check on my farms to know if time to harvest, weeding, watering and removing bugs.

My kids were happy to see the farm and they promise me to take care of it. Hope my incoming neighbors will be generous to dole out some gifts to me.

Party & shopping day for the family

The family had just attended a birthday party of one of my nieces. It was held at McDonald’s SM Bacoor branch at around 3:30pm. Unfortunately the celebrant got ill before her party. She had measles and she was hospitalized for several days already due to fever. It was sad not having the celebrant around but the party went fun together with our relatives and friends of the celebrant. We had some games and then after that eating time. Yours truly participated in 2 games: Bring Me (see the video) and the group game (sort of Basketball Cups). I both won in the games. Yipee!!! After the tiring games we had our snacks and ended the party well.

The family did not go home immediately. We went in a computer school to buy a new printer to replace our troubled EPSON Stylus C20SX, hehehe. After some canvassing made we decided to buy the CANON Pimax iP1980. Since we had a multi-functional Brother we bought this one for printing purposes only. The printing procedure is very easy and they have great promo on the warranty. It costs Php2,195.00 with inks (black & colored) already. Right after that we went home coz we’re all tired already.

The host told us to get anything that starts with letter “P” (tagalog or English word). As you can see, I almost searched and exposed all the things in my bag to search for the items. Fortunately with the help of my kids, sisters, niece and nephews I got 14 items that starts with letter “P” and I won the game.

Web Hosting Solution

Lately, hubby and I are reading articles about domain name and web hosting services. We are thinking of buying our own domain not only for our personal and business use but also for our friends who are interested in getting into blogging. A friend who is a blogger for years now educated us about the details and importance of owning a domain and having a reliable web host.

One of the references we got is the site of WebHostingRating.com wherein lots of web hosts are being featured, evaluated and rated by the real customers. You don’t need to check different sites just to know web hosting because they will give you detailed information about everything with users participation. I had blogger friends who encountered technical and customer service related problems with their respective web host providers and someone even got lost of her PR4 blog permanently because of poor service. We already checked the site and indeed it is very useful and helpful not only for individuals but for businesses too who are planning to have a site and for those who already maintain a site.

There is one article, Understanding the Domain Game, that hubby is reading. We wanted a domain name for the group and we wanted it to be unique and appealing. WHR is a big help to all domain and hosting wanderers out there. It is very profound and we enjoyed reading different feedbacks of real customers about how good and bad their experiences where.

Buzzing PayPerPost

PayPerPost, with the famous acronym PPP, is one of the common paid blogging sites’ badge I used to see in my rounds in the blogosphere. As bloggers, of course we are all interested in monetizing our blog in whatever possible way we could and one among those is through paid/sponsored post. This is a way also wherein we can drive traffic to our blogs and on advertisers as well.
When I signed up for PPP I got an instant approval for my PR3 blog then. I navigated the site to know the ins and outs of it and of course the important one the opportunities available for me to take. Inside PPP, writing such post must meet some requirements given by the advertisers like as to number of words and the tone of the post which could be positive, negative or both. I just noticed that in the list of opportunities there is this color coding scheme you need to understand. I thought at first all of those are available for my blog not until I read the bottom of the page regarding the legend of those colors. Basing on that, I knew what among those I am free to take and what are not. Quite sad because most of the opportunities are not available for me to take due to: PR requirement, niche, location and not for free hosting blog. Just hope later they will come out with fewer requirements for more opportunities to me, just a request.
