In 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first man to orbit the earth. In 1969, the Apollo 11 astronauts became the first men to set foot on the moon. In 2014, history will be made again, with the first Filipino flying to space.

22 people around the world will be given a chance for the opportunity of a lifetime to take the ride of their lives in space, and one of them will be a Filipino. With the new spaceship of Space Expedition Corporation that can go over the Earth’s atmosphere in just 4 minutes, 22 qualified applicants will have a chance to be part of the team to ride in space on 2014.

Two Filipinos will be sent to the global space camp in Orlando, Florida to undergo several challenges and exercises and one of them will be fortunate to be on the trip. For those interested just log on to www.axeapollo.com before the end of mid-May.

Safe & economical LASIK

I’d been wearing my eyeglasses for years now. I am nearsighted person and my eyeglasses help me see things quite far from my location. It is really hard to have a sight like this but wearing an eyeglasses add to the burden. I am not interested to wear contacts because for me it seems like I’m wearing a frameless eyeglasses and I don’t have time for the cleaning and maintaining such stuff. One day, I heard over the radio that the broadcaster underwent some sort of Lasik procedure and it was very successful. It brings back his vision, safe and clear. I got interested with it so I explored the net about this procedure. For me, that sounds very economical rather than spending money changing my frames and lenses.

Did you know that over a lifetime, a 25 year old wearing extended wear contacts will spend upwards of $20,000? Choosing modern LASIK, also known as iLASIK, invests in your vision and can save you money in the long term.

Today, when every penny counts, many Americans and other nationalities with vision care expenses are taking another look at modern LASIK. How it goes? The iLASIK procedure, combines Wavefront mapping technology with two lasers for a safe and completely tailor-made procedure. It is covered by most health savings accounts, offering a tax deductible way to pay for better vision.

Check this out:
"For me, iLASIK will pay for itself in seven years by eliminating the ongoing cost of glasses, contact lenses and solutions," said Stefanie Fujinami, who had the iLASIK procedure this year with Los Angeles-based ophthalmologist Dr. Robert Maloney. "The next morning I had 20/20 vision -- I could even read the fine print on the toothpaste!"

Such an amazing job and an inspiration to people like me who was a slave of eyeglasses for years now. If we are on the same boat and want this fantastic procedure check them out. For more information and to calculate your lifetime costs of wearing contacts, visit www.iLASIK.com.

Science Time: 8 planets in the Solar System

Yesterday my daughter was assigned to do a research about the 8 planets in the solar system. The internet really makes it easy when it comes to research matter as compared before my time wherein I need to look the topic among encyclopedias. Aside from Wikipedia, I also tried other references available and just summarized it.

Below is the list of the 8 planets in the solar system with a brief description:

MERCURY

The Planet Mercury is the closest planet to our sun and is the smallest planet in the solar system. It is named after a roman god. It has no natural satellites and no substantial atmosphere.

VENUS

The Planet Venus is the second closest planet to the sun. It is located between our Earth and Mercury. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is covered with thick clouds that create a greenhouse effect that makes it very hot. Venus has no moons.

EARTH

Planet Earth is third planet from the Sun and the fifth largest planet in the solar system. The Earth consists of a gaseous atmosphere, the hydrosphere (all water on Earth), the lithosphere, mantle, and core. Water in the form of the oceans covers approximately 70% of the earth's surface. The remaining 30% is land. There are five contientnts: Eurasia (Europe and Asia), America (North and South Amererica), Africa, Antaractica and Australia.

MARS

Planet Mars is also called the Red Planet or Red World. Mars is reddish in colour and was named after the god of war of the ancient Romans. Mars is the only planet whose surface can be seen in detail from the Earth. Mars is the fourth closest planet to the Sun and the next planet beyond the Earth.

JUPITER

The Planet Jupiter is the LARGEST PLANET in our Solar System. Jupiter has at least 39 moons and they include: Europa, Io, Callisto and Ganymede. Jupiter was explored in flybys in the 1970s by NASA's Pioneer 10 and 11 and Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft, and is currently being studied by the Galileo spacecraft.

SATURN

The Planet Saturn is the second largest planet. It is the next planet after Jupiter. Saturn is named after a Roman God and is famous for its beautiful rings. It has at least 31 moons. These include Titan, Hyperion, Mimas, Enceladus, Rhea, and Phoebe.

URANUS

The Planet Uranus is the third largest planet in the solar system, is a Gas Giant and is the seventh planet from the sun. Planet Uranus has rings like Planet Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.

NEPTUNE

The Planet Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun. It is also known as the Blue Giant. Neptune is the fourth and outermost of the gas giant planets and also has rings. Its atmosphere is mostly hydrogen and helium. In Roman mythology Neptune was the god of the Sea.

Pinhole Glasses: A scientific way to restore clear vision

Attention prescription eyeglasses’ users like me!!! I came across a site which offers a product that could best serve as an alternative to prescription eyeglasses. The benefits of this product are really very promising and yet the price is very affordable.

The name of the site is PinholeGlassesDirect.com and the wonder product I am telling is their pinhole glasses being sold only at $14.95 per pair. What interests me about the product is its power to correct or restore the vision for eye problems like myopia, hyperopia, cataract, astigmatism or computer related eye problems.

How it works?

Pinhole Glasses block the indirect rays from entering our eyes thus prevent them distorting our vision. It only allows direct and coherent light rays to pass through. They use the principle of sight letting rays which are capable of forming a clear image on the retina to pass through. You can check here, how pinholes work, for more information and the science behind its working.

Quality & Benefits…

It is made with laser technology which is highly effective quality tools. Sturdy, long lasting and not affected by scratches and marks on the lenses. Pinholes are one-time highly affordable investment as compared to prescription eyeglasses.

Pinhole Glasses are very useful and effective over all distances like book reading, watching TV, working on your computer, or other stationary viewing, which are only meant to be used for. Dangerous to use when you are moving as it affects peripheral vision of the eyes.

As for me who have been wearing prescription eyeglasses for years now and had changed my lenses 3 times already I guess it’s about time to switch to this kind of glasses. Well as they said, you will never know until you give it a try. It is guaranteed against manufacturing defects and customers’ dissatisfaction plus delivery is free of charge, globally. I am really very excited to try this one so right now I am just waiting for the arrival of my pinhole eyeglasses.
