Filipino-American Idol on FOX

19 Entertainment, a division of Core Media Group and Fremantle Media North America, Inc. produced the new reality television singing competition “Filipino-American Idol.” There will be four judges namely Nicole Scherzinger, (recording artist, TV personality & actress) Bruno Mars singer-songwriter & record producer), apl.de.ap (rapper, record-producer & occasional drummer) and Vanessa Hudgens (actress & singer) while comedian Rob Shneider will be the show’s host. This show will premieres on FOX in March 2013 as the 12th season of American Idol airs on January 16.

Before Willie Revillame turns 52 on Janurary 27, 2013, a new game show will be born that will replace “Wil Time Bigtime.” Revillame promised bigger prizes, exciting games and an all-new show to his followers, and maybe in a new time slot too. I saw the speeches of ABS-CBN Chairman & CEO Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III, GMA Network Inc. owner Felipe “Henry” Gozon and TV5 Manuel “Manny” Pangilinan in the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress in Camarines Sur. What I enjoyed most was the parts where the top executives were questioned by top anchors from another station.

The Kitchen Musical

The KITCHEN MUSICAL, the exciting new Asian series (kinda like Glee and Hell’s Kitchen combined), is set to debut on US television after the show premiered strongly in the the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Emmy & Golden Globe Award-winning producer, Ben Silverman, who brought Ugly Betty and The Office to the US has also selected The Kitchen Musical for the same route. This is a first as formats are only brought back to the US after the show has performed well internationally.

The first Pan-Asian musical series, topbilled by our very own Karylle and Christian Bautista, debuted on seven countries, including ABS-CBN and Studio 23, in the region and 18 territories via AXN last Sunday, October 2.

The Kitchen Musical received rave reviews from viewers and instantly gained fans accross Southeast Asia that it became one of the trending topics on Twitter right after the airing of its pilot episode.

MTRCB suspends Willing Willie

“Willing Willie” of TV5 hosted by Willie Revillame was suspended for one month regarding the March 12 episode wherein the 6 year old boy has been abused allegedly. The board concluded that the said episode violated a law against immoral and indecent broadcasts against Filipino values.

Also, MTRCB will be requiring TV5 to apply for a permit to air the show per episode. It will be implemented until the board see reforms and changes in the said show.

Korean drama "My Princess" @ ABS-CBN

I loved to watch ABS-CBN’s afternoon show’s Korean drama “My Princess.” Like many around the world, it entertains me to watch shows about royalty. Actually I watched “Princess Hours” too at the said network and able to love the characters.

“My Princess” tells the story of Lizelle played by Korea’s very own Kim Tae Hee. She is just an ordinary student who makes a living out of dressing up like a princess. Since she was a child, she has always dreamt of being with her father but her world fell apart upon learning that he had already died. Eventually, Lizelle discovers that she has royal blood. She meets Ethan, played by Asia’s premiere actor Song Seung Hun, who is a rich diplomat and is against the restoration of the monarchy. Because of the clashing interests of their families, they start having petty quarrels and disagreements. But unexpectedly, they fall in love with each other.

Learned also that it was hot and hit the biggest audience share on the first day.

Willie Revillame's shows on TV5

Willie Revillame is still one of the controversial and hot stars in the showbiz industry. Recently, ABS-CBN file a P486M counterclaim over Willie while on the other bench the later is rumored to have 2 new shows at TV5 with titles “Willing Willie” and “Born to be a Star.” Said shows are set to start next month and that I think if the court will rule on Willie’s side over his cases with ABS-CBN. The manager and business partner of Willie, Vic del Rosario, disclosed that TV5 gives Willie the “full creative freedom” on the shows and that a more “focused and disciplined” Willie will be seen.

If said noontime show of Willie will materialize, there will be 3 noontime shows that people can get to watch: ShowTime (Channel 2), Eat Bulaga (Channel 7) and Willing Willie (TV5). Who will reign the noontime slot? That’s something worth waiting to see in the survey. So as Michael Buffer trademarked catchphrase goes: “Let’s get ready to rumble.”

The Philippine Entertainment Portal or PEP (from its anonymous source) buzzed the upcoming show of Willie Revillame over TV5 with rumored title “Willing-Willie Kami.” Some of the defunct “Wowowee” show are said to be part of the new show which will air end of this month or on October 10. Recently, ABS-CBN filed a P486M counter claim versus Willie.

The hard-headed Willie Revillame strike again. Despite the agreement of Revillame and ABS-CBN that he is not allowed to appear or perform from a competitor of the network still Willie made a surprise appearance on another network’s musical variety program. He appeared as a special guest of actor John Estrada during the taping of the special episode for Estrada’s birthday celebration. According to the report, the “Wowowee” on-leave host performed 2 song numbers and distributed cash to studio audience.

Party on Five (PO5) is a cross between “Wowowee” and “ASAP XV” as it will offer big prizes. Ryan Agoncillo, Lucy Torres, John Estrada, JC de Vera, and Alex Gonzaga host with Jan Nieto and Rainier Castillo.

Will Willie Revillame leave Wowowee for good or his meeting with ABS-CBN bosses set on May 24 will turn everything into a happy ending? Currently the #1 noontime show is being handled by the “Bad Boy of Philippine Movies” Robin Padilla but only good for 2 weeks. The show is getting favorable response as its rating continues to mount up.

Yes it is true that many casted their unfavorable remarks on Willie over his actions like me but on my part I never ask for his resignation. Willie handles the show very well when speaking of it as a host of the show. I guess that’s the magic of Willie as a game show host. Aside from the generosity of the Network, his ability to keep the show alive and makes people laugh is a talent that suits him to handle the show.

Well for now we just need to wait for the result of the meeting on May 24 to know the ending of the story.

"Pilipinas Got Talent" @ ABS-CBN Network

It is official. ABS-CBN Network acquired the “Got Talent” franchise, a British television format conceived and owned by judege Simon Cowell of “American Idol,” and this latest reality-based talent show will be called “Pilipinas Got Talent.” This newest reality television series patterned after the popular “Britain’s Got Talent” and “America’s Got Talent” will open opportunities to other talented Filipinos who are not been discovered yet. Similar to other “Got Talent” series, the Philippines’ version of this show will also feature singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and other performers from all ages.

According to Wikipedia, the “Got Talent” franchise is one of the fastest growing international franchises raging over 20 countries along with “The Weakest Link,” “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, “Dancing with the Stars” and “Pop Idol.”
