PGMA: 50 cents SMS texting of Telecommunication Companies

If the oil companies are untouchables given billions in income every year because of this “oil deregulation law”, the same thing goes with these telecommunication companies. What can we expect from this 50 cents SMS texting that PGMA mentioned in her SONA??? Loud and clear, that was just a promo from the telecommunication companies that will run until October or November and can be extended depending on their convenience.

As they said, they cannot be dictated by the President and that the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) is the government agency who can handle concerns on telecommunications with them. But the question is does NTC doing its job?

People are complaining many things on the services being rendered by telcos:

  • Cost of services – Are these telcos charging as fairly? I never heard of anything that this issue is being tackled thoroughly and with consistency for the welfare of the consuming public. As PGMA said, texting is a way of life. If she really has the political will, the Consumer Welfare Act she mentioned in the SONA must take effect the soonest possible time for the welfare of the consuming public.
  • Expiration – Why it has to have expiration? Consumers are being forced to consume their about-to-expire load to non-sense texting because of that just to make use of it. It will be a big help if this will be removed and in a way giving their consumers the right of usage over it.
  • Load snatching – This 232, 2727 thing and the likes are proliferating in our cellphones sending messages we have not requested and grabbing our load. Even we reply to permanently stop their messaging, as if they are at liberty to do that especially if you have load that can be snatched.
  • Information dissemination – As mentioned by a senator in their public hearing, she received various offers from people who sent messages on her cell phone and she believed that a way to do it is to have access on the database of her provider. It also happened to me and I guess too many of us.

There are many things happening around the world and in the Philippines but we must not point an accusing finger to what were happening outside our country as the reason. Within us Filipinos can do something to overcome whatever problem may come if we could only stand as one country.

  • Transparent and good governance.
  • Efficient and effective politicians.
  • Working government agencies both local and national.
  • Hard working and responsible citizens.

We can not just rely to God on the fate of our country but each and every one of us has a great part and work to do to make everything possible.

If you have been here in the Philippines then you must not miss out trying this street food. You can find these along the streets you may have been crossing. Usually, the vendors make a thorough cleaning of this food and marinate them for better taste. Grilled in charcoal and dip with sauces, this food typically can serve as a dish now to some household who do not have the budget for a regular dish. To some they have it for snack.

Live Your Dark Chocolate Dream!

Craving for a delicious and sumptuous dark chocolate? Years back, I remember I’m quite hesitant to eat chocolates but when I had a taste of it I can’t recall anymore how many times I enjoy eating it. Now, I enjoy it more with my kids. We had great times nibbling those chocolates while watching TV, playing computer games and play station, and other household activities. We never forget to bring packs of it during our summer vacation outskirt and even during their educational field trips.

Chocolate gifts are great present for kids’ birthday party too and for adult chocolate fanatics. Just wrap it up with a matching ribbon and a tag then presto an instant delicious mouth-watering gift. In food, just by the look of its presentation and garnishing you can already feel the hunger just like the feeling of looking at those great dark chocolate gifts beautifully packed you just can’t resist buying it.

There are plenty of these delicious dark chocolates around the world and that’s one reason for me and my kids to be thankful and happy about.

Vanessa & Zac @ Turks and Caicos Vacation

I got this video from You Tube care of 12mln. I seemed to like this pair when I saw them initially on High School Musical 1. They were both great in that movie and even on the second sequel. My daughter is waiting for the third.

The video above shows some pictures on the couple’s recent vacation in Turks and Caicos. Is that another sort of controversy for the couple?????

Charice with Andrea Bocelli at Lajatico

After their first encounter in David Foster’s concert, Charice was personally invited by Andrea Bocelli for a duet at Lajatico. The two performed the very heartwarming song “The Prayer”.

Extract from an Italian Newspaper, IL GIORNALE:

But after everything has been said, the greatest surprise of all was Charice, the dimunitive 16-year old Filipina who was such a wonder. The people soon understood that description when she began to sing "The Prayer" in duet with the tenor. She sang as if the song were her very own: she took hold of it, controlled it, and so received on stage a warm ovation from the audience. If she ever succeeds in overcoming the effects of the "circensian phenomenon" that she still displays (for example, she sings "I will always love you" almost in a way superior to Whitney Houston, but without still enjoying a similar fame), Charice will be a great discovery. From the roof of the world, she should be able to remember also the applause of that night at Lajatico, in the midst of the breeze at the small, quiet village of Andrea Bocelli.

BFAD recalled Glutalife, Vaniderm and Lucida-DS

The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) Director Leticia Barbara Gutierrez clear the issue about her order for a batch recall of three skin whitening drugs found to have “less” glutathione content as claimed in their product labels. Said concern was raised into hype when Korina Sanchez made her detailed reporting on the said issue after an interview with a dermatologist on her show on ANC. The guest pinpointed certain case of what we may call bad/side effects of a certain product used by the claimant. The three recalled brands are Glutalife dietary supplement, Lucida-DS/Glutathione 500 mg, and Vaniderm/Dietary Supplement found to have glutathione content below the ideal level. Another advisory is yet to come if other batches will fail the current tests being performed by the bureau.

I saw on TV this news and it was really alarming since people who are quite unhappy with the color of their skin will turn into this kind of product. BFAD I guess must conduct a periodic random sampling not only on this specific type of product but as many products as they can to protect the consuming public. There is a possibility that batch of products being submitted to the bureau might be of quality reflecting the written contents in their label with the contents on their products.

As a consumer, this issue is of utmost concern especially on items pertaining to my kids’ welfare. There are many products out in the market and we can not pinpoint for ourselves what to buy and not and it is only BFAD and other government agencies who can ensure the safety of these products.

2008 State of the Nation Address (SONA) of PGMA

July 28 is the date. It is the scheduled day for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to deliver another State of the Nation Address expected to buzz around her government’s accomplishments and a wish list of legislative bills she wants passed.

Oppositions and protesters are all set too on their planned activities to coincide in this yearly address from the Philippine President. There is a group who is planning to boycott the SONA for considering it useless and just waste of time and electricity. Some will march and maybe surprisingly some will deliver their own SONA.

It is the time and venue for another batch of never ending promises and claimed accomplishments. I wonder how many clap clap clap for this year. After the recent SWS survey where PGMA gets her lowest satisfaction rating ever and as compared to the last three presidents I guess the president’s writers would find a hard time composing the whole speech. BTW, this is the first time for Speaker Prospero Nograles to appear in the SONA occupying one of the important and powerful seats of the venue after dethroning then Speaker Jose de Venecia.

Food & Health

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body! God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the res earch shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help dev elop more than t hree (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. The y even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.
