Kathryn Bernardo meets YouTube sensation Pamela Andrea del Rosario

Remember the controversial YouTube video of an 11 year old “Mara Clara” fan named Pamela Andrea del Rosario? Well then this Filipina residing in Chicago got to meet Kathryn Bernardo (the one portraying the role of Mara) through Skype. They got to talk for about 13 minutes, and Pamela promised to watch the show till the end and thanked Kathryn for taking time to reach her.

I was able to watch the said video in Facebook, posted by a friend, and I think I understand what she felt. She’s just a little girl got attached and loved the character of Mara. Her death was depressing for her. I remember our grandmothers the way they got to love and hate the characters of drama artists in a radio drama. How much more with Pamela? On the other hand, my daughter disliked “Clara” so much and loved “Mara” to the max.

Well I guess with such reactions, the whole cast of “Mara Clara” is doing a great job.

David Foster & Friends Live in Manila

Araneta Coliseum was flanked by more than 10,000 fans during the highly successful “DAVID FOSTER & FRIENDS LIVE IN MANILA” concert last Saturday. Charice wowed the crowd with her versions of “Power of Love,” “To Love You More,” “All By Myself,” “Pyramid” and “The Bodyguard.” She also performed with Natalie Cole, the Canadian Tenors, Peter Cetera and Ruben Studdard. The group rendered their final production number to honor Michael Jackson.

A Day of Celebration

Hubby and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary last October 24 with the kids. First, we attended the 10 a.m. mass at ST. PETER’S CHURCH in Commonwealth, Quezon City. After that we went to SM Marikina to dine, shop and have fun. It’s almost lunch time so we went to THE OLD SPAGHETTI HOUSE where for sure kids will love too because they like pasta. After eating we dropped by at SM Department Store to buy a backpack for Ate Nicole and a functional bag for papa. We bought a HAWK BAG for Ate and a CASE LOGIC one for Papa.

While at the ground level we saw this Magician’s Festival Show with The Story Circle free of admission. We sat for some time and watched the first 2 performers. Before the show starts, kids got to try this BUNGEE FUN for 120 pesos for 3 minute exposure. We left before 4 p.m. to proceed at BATTLE STRIKERS booth for the kids’ elimination. It must be their lucky day because the 2 of them got qualified to join the grand finals on October 30 at the SM MALL OF ASIA. Our last stop is at BREAD TALK selling different pieces of bread and every piece looks yummy.

Family decided to have dinner somewhere else so we pick the place near home. At MONTALBAN TOWN CENTER, there’s this family favorite SLICE N’ DICE. Thank God I don’t need to cook at home coz I am really so tired shopping and walking.

Our wedding anniversary celebration is so memorable coz we did a lot of things and enjoy the day with each other. We’re all looking forward on the next family’s day out. We all easily fell asleep after minutes of being home. Click here for the complete pictures.

The National Historic Institute or NHI applauded the rendition of Charice Pempengco of the Philippine National Anthem during the inauguration of President Aquino. Charice is very happy to know about it. Also, NHI is thankful that Mr. Ryan Cayabyab was present. Cayabyab is pushing through the preservation of the national anthem on its original composition.

"Cory A Mother To Me" by Francis Uy

I have seen this video on You Tube, “Cory a Mother to Me” by Francis Uy and the lyrics were really great. I can’t help but again admires the late president Cory Aquino for being a mother not only to her siblings but to our nation as well. Until the last breath of her life she thinks nothing but for the welfare of the Filipino people. Happy Mother’s Day Tita Cory and to all the mothers!!!

YouTube: Arnel Pineda sings Lupang Hinirang

Aside from waiting for the main event, Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight, people also awaits the rendition of Journey’s Filipino front man Arnel Pineda of “Lupang Hinirang.” The singing of the national anthem always creates controversy in some fights of Manny and the recent fight is one. National Historical Institute’s (NHI) Teddy Atienza, chief of NHI’s Heraldry Section, disclosed that the board was not pleased when it heard Pineda’s version.

I think NHI must make its own ruling to avoid such controversy. They always find something wrong in the renditions now and before and in that regard they must draw the line to avoid future issues.

YouTube: Jovit Baldivino @ Pilipinas Got Talent

Pilipinas Got Talent” paved the way to one of the YouTube sensations nowadays, Jovit Baldivino. I was really amazed as he sung his version of Journey’s “Faithfully” during his audition on February 27. But aside from loving his voice I got to love the personality of this boy. Apart from the attitudes of boys in his age, this boy is dedicated on his studies and at the same time trying to help his family in their living. Jovit is a vocalist of an all-male band called “Valedeta” and his exposure in “PGT” helped the group got more gigs.

Congratulations and good luck! Hope you can make it till the end. You not only share your talent to the viewers but moreover we admired you for being such a good son and brother to your family and a good example to youth. More blessings to come.

Ferdinand Dimadura's Chicken A La Carte

Have you seen a short film that touches your heart and open your minds to the real world? Such a short one indeed that will make you asks yourself “Why?”

February 2006 during the 56th Berlin International Film Festival, filmmakers were invited for a short film competition with a theme of “Food, Taste and Hunger.” There were 3,600 filmmakers who submitted their entries and only 32 of them were fortunate to have their films screened at the Berlinale Talent Campus. This particular short film topped the competition after being adjudged as the “Most Popular Short Film.”

Chicken A La Carte made by a certain Ferdinand Dimadura is among the other short films reflecting the poverty and hardships of children and families around the world. It’s worth watching and best serve as an eye opener especially for Filipinos. My husband told me about this video and the family watched it yesterday night. We wanted to show to our kids how lucky they are for what they have now as compared to kids on the film. But of course as a mother and as a Filipino, that must be ended and great changes must happen.

This coming May 2010 election let change come to the Philippines. Change not only for our self and family but to the Philippines as a country. Vote for leaders we think will bring about the good and great changes to our lives and not allow leaders to come in power who are nothing but selfish and heartless ones. Vote wisely and never let happen to ask ourselves again “Why?”

YouTube & Lyrics of Charice "Note to God" @ Oprah

Charice Pempengco performs her debut single on her third appearance in the popular American talk show’s Oprah Winfrey Show. Her “Note to God” song is partly an emotional prayer whose lyrics are about what one would say in a letter to God. I have seen the YouTube of the said performance and I myself can’t avoid be teary eyed as I listen to it. The lyrics, the melody and how Charice emotionally performed the said song was really very inspiring.

It is a reality indeed that there are so many wrongs that have been happening around the world: poverty, corruption, killings, wars, down economy and more. With that I think this song is very timely and inspiring that we all make our note to God. Let us not only see the great performance of Charice here and the song but moreover the inspiration it brings to make our own note to God amidst everything. Peace & Love to everyone.
