E-VAT exemptions for senior citizens
Good news to our grandmothers and grandfathers! Congress just passed the bill exempting Senior Citizens from 12% VAT. Upon PGMA’s signing of this law, estimated before Valentine’s Day, senior citizens will now get to enjoy a full 20% discount from their different purchases like food, clothing, medicines, etc. I am just kind of sad because this kind of law should have been passed and signed long ago and no need to wait for an election. Well as they said, “Better late than never.” Ugh!

Speech of Sen. Noynoy Aquino @ the Makati Business Club
Keynote speech delivered by Sen. Benigno S. Aquino III, January 21, 2010 on the general membership meeting of the Makati Business Club at the Manila Peninsula’s Rigodon Ballroom.
Officers and members of the Makati Business Club, Your Excellencies of the diplomatic corps, ladies and gentlemen, my friends and countrymen. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to address you.
I trust your asking me first is not based on alphabetical order, or based on age, but perhaps, based on who you think will most likely win the coming election.View the complete transcript here.
As managers, you recognize that one of the necessary skills of an effective manager is time management. Is it possible that you have invited me to determine if there is still a necessity to spend time with the others? Baka naman inuna niyo ako upang malaman kung sapat na ako at hindi na kailangang pansinin yung iba?
I think we are all aware of the problems facing our country. We share the same statistics. We probably even share the same conclusions about the need for better governance. To rehash all of these problems at this forum would be a waste of your time.
But what we have now is an opportunity for you to get to know me, to find out the advocacies that I champion, the perspective and philosophies I bring to the equation and some of my proposed solutions to give an insight into my inner persona.
Levity aside, the political exercise that we will engage in this May is a crucial one. It will be, as it is for every fledgling democracy, a test of the strength of our political institutions.
The peaceful transition of power has become a symbol of political maturity across the world, with many still failing to achieve the credibility that is the cornerstone of a genuine political mandate.
With the electoral scandals that have stalled our democratic progress as of late, it is not a test that we can afford to fail.

COMELEC: PGMA & ERAP free to run
The Commission on Election (COMELEC) already ruled over the petitions seeking to disqualify President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to run for Congress in Pampanga and for former President Erap Estrada for Presidential bid. The COMELEC’s rulings will allow both presidents to run for the above-mentioned seats pending ruling by the Supreme Court (SC) on the same petitions.
In connection with the ruling over PGMA, lawyer Ely Pamatong was charged in contempt and ordered him detained at the Manila City Jail for at least 10 days as cited by COMELEC Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer. He accused the COMELEC 2nd Division as thieves and that he has no respect and trust on them.

Jayson Aguilar Ivler arrested
Marlene, mother of suspect, could face charges in hiding her son. She tried before to appeal to her son to surrender himself and even claimed that he received an email from his son saying he’s already in the US.
Rest of the story here.
James & Kris Yap over Mayen Austria
My personal note on this is that let James and Kris settle what they need to settle. In the course of that let us give them space and privacy because being both celebrities they also have a marriage to work on and a family to keep. This must be tough for them coz issues like that are hard to confront in public. Let us pray for them and wish for the best.
Latest update on the issue here.

How Wheat Works: The program that gives back
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Wheat Food Council. All opinions are 100% mine.
As a mom, I am concerned with the food my kids are eating. I want to give them food that will help them grow physically and mentally healthy. Both my kids are schooling so at times they are too moody and choosy with the food they see on the table. But I’m glad they both like to eat cereals as breakfast in the morning and as snacks in the afternoon. Every day they get carbohydrates, iron and vitamins from these cereals to keep them strong and healthy.I know many of us are familiar with the different applications or games at Facebook. On the other hand, there is an interactive, online multimedia program that gives farm-to-fork educational and informative play about wheat. They call it How Wheat Works. In here, every player of all ages can virtually grow, harvest and mill their kernels to create their desired wheat food. The four phases of this play consists of growth, harvest, milling/baking and the grocer’s aisle. You can also select the type of wheat to be grown, wheat flour to be milled and even allow players to learn preparing recipes with wheat-based.
The Wheat Foods Council is the institution that teaches the nutrition about whole or grain food and the importance of this to balance diet. By the way! For every participant of “How Wheat Works,” the council will donate two pounds of flour, and up to 90,000 pounds, to Operation Homefront. It is a non-profit institution that provides assistance to needy U.S. troops and their love ones. Such donation will be made by ADM and ConAgra, two of world’s largest millers. Check out www.wheatfoods.org for their campaign awareness about whole or enriched grain food nutrition and our informed food choices.

Tanging Yaman
ABS-CBN opens 2010 with a new teleserye “Tanging Yaman.” The show started last January 11 right before TV Patrol World. I got to see the show for several days already and I could say it’s interesting and timely. I hope politicians watch this teleserye to see what a public servant must be in the role of Rowell Santiago who portrayed the role of a fireman turned President and NOT the role of Leo Martinez as Congressman Solomon Buenavista.

Birthday party with myJones soda
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Jones Soda. All opinions are 100% mine.
After the holidays, come the birthday of one of my brothers-in-law on the 27th of January. He used to work in a known drugstore here in the Philippines for more than a decade already. It’s always been celebrated with some of his friends at home and together with the family we usually grace the occasion with some food and drinks.
I am pretty sure you have your own occasions to deal with. Try visiting myJones store and find out what they can offer you to grace the occasion. You can even personalize it and have it as a souvenir for the occasion at a very reasonable price.
Enjoy every occasion with myJones store.

1-ABAA renewable marriage
I am a woman too but such proposal is really baseless and inconsiderate. A family comprises of the father, mother and the kids. If you are concern about those annulment cases piling up in the court then you must be more concern of numerous kids that will have broken families.
Isa-Ako Babaeng Astig Aasenso (1-ABAA) members and leaders must be sane enough to stop proposing a renewable marriage because such is a sacred promise and vow with the Lord that no man can break apart.
You give me an idea on how senseless and destructive your proposals might be and thanks to that you will not be in my list for sure.

Romeo's Spice & Steaks in Antipolo
The family got to visit hubby’s transmitter in Antipolo sometime last December. We brought some fruits for his on-duty technicians and had some chat with them while the kids busy playing with the computer. After such visit the family had the dinner in one of the overlooking restaurants of the city, Romeo’s Spice & Steaks.
The place was indeed cozy and the prices are bit high but hey it is not bad to go on some spending especially on food. We ordered for a bowl of “Bulalo” which is my daughter’s favorite, a plate of “chicharong bulaklak” and a piece of their best seller, Jalapeño Tenderloin Steak.
I really enjoy the time when the family goes out and dine somewhere else. It is where everybody just got to sit down, eat and enjoy the place. I am not fond of gadgets, jewelries and clothes but when it comes to food I must admit I am a big spender.
