My kids & Christmas

During my long vacation from blogging, one of my tasks is gift wrapping. When I put up our 6 year old Christmas Tree the kids are very excited and waiting for the boxes underneath. After two weeks of waiting, they saw those boxes that they are asking for. For kids, it will never be complete without those special gifts. Christmas is giving. That is one message I always wanted to impart with my kids so every Christmas they are assigned to distribute the gifts.

Being kids too, they tend to expect to receive as well. My kids are still young so every Christmas hubby and I see to it that we always have gifts for them. We always tell them to appreciate the gifts that they will receive, never look at the size or the cost. Give value and importance on the thought that they are being remembered. We also told them that a gift doesn’t have to be tangible like a gift of having a complete and happy family.

Pacquiao wins over de la Hoya

The Dream Match is over and Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao won over the Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya in this much celebrated and controversial fight. As expected, all Filipinos stay home to watch the fight and I guess even the law breakers because I heard no bad news today despite knowing that law enforcers are also watching, LOL. I watched the fight with hubby on TV even though we heard it live on radio while doing my chores in the kitchen.

Actually I am not a boxing fanatic but my interest emanates because hubby is a big fan of boxing. He was trained by my late father-in-law but I guess it’s not for him. We saw the event from the appearance of Karylle Tatlonghari who sang the national anthem up to the post fight. I bet those politicians are very happy not only because Pacman wins but also them, LOL. How much $$$? Let ask Chavit Singson.

The victory of Pacman proved the value and importance of one’s WILL. If the “will” is there we give our best to get there and probably that “will” must be in each and every Filipino people to overcome the problems of the country as one. For hours we tend to set aside for a while the problems of the country but after it is a big reality that as a country lies our big fight that we need to overcome and be victorious.

Christmas Lanterns

Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday above all. I enjoy seeing those Christmas house decors especially those exceptional and amazing decors at malls, hotels and business establishments like in Makati area. At home, hubby and I usually fill the front house with some decors and for this year we added one big lantern at the center of the second floor.

When it comes to lanterns, Pampanga is known for it and even designated as the Christmas Capital of the Philippines. For the locals who can’t afford to go to Pampanga to buy lanterns, Gilmore is a place where different stalls selling lanterns and other Christmas décors are being installed for a specific period. It is where we bought our lantern for 2,100 pesos. As compared to malls, it is best to buy these decors to these vendors because they have cheaper rentals and they personally manufacture their own items. They also accept repair and even customized décor as per customer request. To get the best price, hubby and I hopped those stalls and asked for a quote on a specific design and size of lantern. From the price of 3,000 pesos we saved 900 pesos. The lights and the decors give joy to people especially to kids that is why it’s been a family tradition to fill the house with some lights and decors for those kids walking by as well as carolers.

Now that life is quite tough with the current global crisis, let us always keep in ourselves the spirit of Christmas, LOVE, PEACE & SHARING, and let us pray altogether and wish the best for all of us. Advance MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Housewife @ Work is back!!!

Hello my dear friends and visitors! First and foremost, I want to apologize for not updating my blog. I went to several activities of my kids, got sick, household preparations for the holidays and quite hard financial dealings for the business of my parents. Also, I am working with my webmaster since I indexed my blog WITH WWW instead of NON-WWW. I thought that would not have any effect but I am wrong. Last October 11, I requested Google for a NON-WWW as my preferred domain to match it with my blogspot account and it was granted late November. Now, Housewife @ Work was indexed twice (WITH WWW and NON-WWW) so I am still thinking of how to handle it correctly this time.
