1987 Constitution Article 7 Section 4

Now that President Gloria Arroyo is definite to run for Congress on the second district of Pampanga COMELEC will (for sure) be facing the query about the 1987 Constitution particularly Article 7 Section 4.

Article VII Executive Department Section 4
The President and the Vice-President shall be elected by direct vote of the people for a term of six years which shall begin at noon on the thirtieth day of June next following the day of the election and shall end at noon of the same date, six years thereafter. The President shall not be eligible for any re-election. No person who has succeeded as President and has served as such for more than four years shall be qualified for election to the same office at any time.
Is PGMA can legally run on 2010 Elections for Congress? How will the legal geniuses defend the legalities or illegalities of this particular issue? Does she need to resign from her post?

Whatever rulings the COMELEC or even the Supreme Court will have on this sensitive issue let us all bear in our minds, especially the voters, that we are also empower by our Constitution. We have the power to vote and let us use that power wisely and with dignity. As a country, let us vote the righteous leaders to lead and guide us from the smallest islands to the biggest ones.

VOTE WISELY.. VOTE WITH DIGNITY..

Exxon Mobil @ Sulu Sea exploration drilling project

I saw over the news the exploration drilling project being made by EXXON MOBIL in our Sulu Sea. First drilling amounted to 5 billion pesos and succeeding drillings are estimated to cost the same. Department of Energy (DOE) estimated 750 million to 1 billion barrels of oil are estimated to uncover enough to augment the oil needs of the Philippines for 7 years. Government has nothing to spend on this project but likewise benefit (taxes and percentages) from said exploration drilling project once the deposit is confirmed.

Such good news for every Filipino especially if said project turns out positive. Let us just hope and pray that many Filipinos will benefit from it and not just few ones.

Pres. Gloria Arroyo as Congresswoman?

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is definite to run for re-election as Congresswoman in the second district of Pampanga. PGMA told Radyo ng Bayan Palace reporter Mari Peña Ruiz today (Monday) about her filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) tomorrow December 1.
Will that be legal? Are Kabalens really sought PGMA to run as Congresswoman? Or it will be part of the plan to pursue a parliamentary form of government where PGMA can serve as a Prime Minister?

Whatever PGMA motives are and her allies, as well as other politicians who will run on 2010 Elections, it is very important for all the voters to cast their votes wisely. Let us stop these politicians from using us and always leaving us with broken promises. From the smallest islands to the biggest ones, let us all be united in choosing the next batch of leaders of our country who really have the heart and clear conscience to lead us. Let us not focus ourselves on the barangay or district we are part of but think of ourselves as a part of this country that is submerged into so much corruptions, poverty and jobless people.

Let us all ask God’s guidance as we come to our precinct and vote. May God’s power and love flows on our hearts and minds so we can choose the rightful one.

Partial transcript and video of President Arroyo's announcement on Radyo ng Bayan

While I am very much looking forward to stepping down as president at the end of my term, I am mulling different ways to stay involved. Tiningnan ko ang pagbalik sa pagturo; I also studied working with nonprofit organizations on issues ranging from the environment to women's issues. After much contemplation I realized I am not ready to step down completely from public service.

Gaya ng alam nyo, hiniling din ako ng mga mamamayan sa aking tahanang distrito sa Pampanga na manatili sa buhay publiko. So after much soul-searching I have decided to respond affirmatively to their call. To that end, I will file my candidacy for Congress in order to serve the hardworking people of my home province.

Ampatuans on Maguindanao Massacre

What happened last Monday (November 23) with the Mangudadatu clan and some members of the tri-media was really cruel, gruesome and horrible. Tagged as the “Maguindanao Massacre,” this incident maybe consider as the most violent election related crime of all time. What more condemning about this issue are the journalists who became victims of these evil and rude politicians. Their eagerness to stay in power showed their cruelty that they will wipe out those who will come and run against them.

The Ampatuans, one of PGMA allies, are allegedly behind this brutal massacre. Evidences like the backhow seen in the crime scene is said to be under the custody of the provincial government. The conversation between the victims and their relatives relaying the message that they have been abducted plus those who escaped the said massacre are pointing to the Ampatuans.

Are the Ampatuans really untouchables? Reports said that this clan helped PGMA win in the 2004 thru the alleged cheating. Is this the reason why PGMA and her police and military men’s actions are kind of shallow in handling the case? Why this government always portrays the difference of the powerful and powerless? I’m sure if the suspects are ordinary individuals they will order to attack and ransack its houses and hide outs.

With the Ampatuans being alleged as the mastermind of this gruesome” Maguindanao Massacre,” may the Commission on Election (COMELEC) disregard and reject any Certificate of Candidacy that will be filed by any Ampatuan until the case is resolved. That this goes the same with those politicians who will be involved in any election related crime. This procedure will enable the police and military men and even the government to finish the investigation the soonest possible time.

State of Emergency
PGMA to go after the Ampatuans
Death toll rises to 46

Jinkee-Manny-Krista a love triangle?

Does Krista Ranillo really the root of Manny and Jinkee Pacquiao’s quarrel? I saw on TV how Jinkee shunned Manny’s attempt to comfort her as she cried over during the thanksgiving mass. Not only that. She leaned not on Manny’s shoulder for comfort but on a female friend right beside her. She sat down during the exchange of “peace be with you” and never showed up on after-fight party at LA.

Of course this issue is a very personal thing but such actions speak louder than words. Does Manny really go to Hongkong with Krista? Why Krista and his father accompanied Manny during the giving of relief goods for Ondoy victims and not Jinkee? Why Krista and her family need to fly abroad to watch Manny’s fight? Are all these merely an advance step for Wapakman? Or there is really something romantic going on between the 2 that made Jinkee cried and sudden boycott?

Whatever is the real score between the couple let us pray and hope for the best.

Rhap Salazar @ Ellen DeGeneres show

After the remarkable performance of Charice Pempengco at Ellen DeGeneres Show, here comes Rhap Salazar. It was a birthday wish came true for Rhap when he was able to sing at the renowned TV show last November 17. He sang “All By Myself” and received a standing ovation from Ellen and the studio guests.

According to news, Ellen even showed herself during the rehearsal of Rhap which is unusual according to her staff. Ellen never shows herself on the guest’s rehearsal and this is probably the first and maybe this little boy really made Ellen surprise and curious.

Congratualtions Rhap and good luck! applause party thumbs up

Charter's Ultra60 Mbps, the Phatband technology

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ultra60small

Internet forms part of people’s lives from all walks of life. For a full time housewife and a blogger like me going online is one ordinary task I have in my ever day list. I love to cook and internet is a big help for me to improve and learn many dishes about this stuff. Exchanging emails with my love ones and friends that really save me not only time but moreover on the expenses. Checking out the latest and hottest news in town plus the newest issue about my favorite artists and watching previews of several movies available.

Being a blogger, I prefer of course the fastest internet speed I can avail of. I do open several windows simultaneously because I am involved in several online stuffs. Slow (especially very slow) internet connection really sucks for every internet user. I hate to wait. Imagine waiting for minutes just to download a page. Ugh! It is so excruciating and a waste of time.

Lucky for those people in Saint Louis because they can enjoy the benefits of having charter ultra fast 60. I can’t imagine loading a page with just a split of seconds. For sure streaming my favorite HD movies, games for my kids and more will be a lot easier and fast. With the help of the new phatband technology services like these are not far behind and they can even surpass internet user’s expectations in every inch of preferences.

Currently, we are using DSL and I am completely frustrated. I may not be a techie person but I guess the cable internet technology will be a lot satisfying. Can you bring Ultra60 Mbps here Charter? It is hard dealing with just a 1-5 Mbps service I have right now and your Ultra60 Mbps will be a great Christmas present.

Hubby and his brothers watched it through live streaming feed and connect it on the big screen. Not much of commercials, actually a minute interval between rounds only. As of me I was not able to join them coz I am doing the laundry so I just took time to watch it at GMA-7 with plenty of commercial. Ughh!!!

Vote Efren Peñaflorida @ 2009 CNN Heroes

Help support Efren Peñaflorida to be the 2009 CNN Hero. Voting continues until Thursday, November 19, 2009 (6 a.m. ET). There is no limit on the number of times you may vote for the Hero of the Year.

ABOUT THE GROUP
Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) is a group of concerned young people with a mission of making a small yet significant difference in other people’s lives, particularly the small children in slum areas who have no access to education, basic hygiene and sometimes, even love from their families. The group was founded in August 1997 by four teenagers from Cavite National High School. The initial group made up of around 20 members started as a friendship club which aimed to divert the attention of students from joining violent gangs and notorious fraternities that were thriving on the campus. Their major platform then was to cater youth awareness projects, talent and self development activities, and community services. Today, the group holds different activities to address these issues.

TOUGH BEGINNINGS
In 1999, Efren “Kuya Ef!” Penaflorida Jr. who is living near the city dump site and one of the group’s founder, began to reach out to slum kids. This marked the emergence of the “Kalingain Batang Mahirap” (Care of Impoverished Children), DTC’s feeding project for children who scavenge for left-overs and spoiled food from the dump site. The group had a hard time involving older people to the cause and so they trained themselves to be self-sufficient enough to teach the young kids themselves. The group was able to support itself and its projects by showcasing their talents in staged concerts and performances; and by selling old newspapers, bottles, and recycled products. This enabled DTC to train more potential youth leaders and eventually led to a purchase of a pedicab for its literacy and feeding projects.

TODAY
With the training and supervision of Kuya Ef who is now a professional educator, DTC has indeed come a long way. Their mission to teach unschooled, labor-exploited and neglected street children is slowly being realized today. The group also conducts weekly feeding, first aid treatment of scabies and wounds, and values formation activities through their K4 Project (Kariton Klasrum, Klinik at Kantin). Hygiene and first aid skills are supervised by registered midwives and professional nurses who are DTC Alumni.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The fruits of their labor are slowly being reaped as former drug users and petty thieves who were reformed through their projects are now also serving as volunteers. Former scavengers are now in school and are helping to raise funds. Some of the children who remain unschooled are now able to read and write. DTC was able to reach thousands of children through their Mind Your Rights (MY RIGHTS) campaign and through their health-literacy work.
In 2007, they launched the “WE ARE THE CHANGE” campaign to inspire people to be the catalyst for change – in what they want to see in their home, community and the world we live in. For they believe that real change happens when we begin to touch one soul and change one heart at a time.

Smart holiday spending tips

Christmas is nearing and we already have some advance planning for the season’s needs. Part of that planning is buying presence to our love ones. As we all know Christmas is a spending season for people from all walks of life.

Below are some shopping tips to guide you. Remember we can celebrate Christmas without going over budget.

Plan ahead - As early as possible, list down people you want to give gifts to. Wait for mall-wide sales, inventory sales, closing-out sales, or even calamity sales throughout the year. Definitely, prices will be lower and you can start buying gifts in increments - without having to spend large amounts in one go.

Shop early - If you have a shopping list ready, try going at early hours in the day when malls or stores open. This way, you won't feel harassed when looking for gifts and if you shop early enough in the season, you won't have to compete with other buyers for limited items or stocks.

Go bargain hunting - It is fun to shop in bargain hotspots like Divisoria in Manila, the Dapitan Arcade in Quezon City, or the Green Hills "tiangge" in San Juan. You can find a lot of gift items or decorations - and haggle with the stall keepers when you buy. This means you can stick to your budget.

Look for "UK" goods - These are not imports from London, but "ukay-ukay" finds. Some of them, like vintage bags or clothes, can be jazzed up with newer items to give gifts that homemade touch. Never underestimate the value of making homemade gifts when your budget gets tight.

Recycle gifts - Don't know what to do with items you got in previous Christmases but have never used? Try re-wrapping them and giving them as gifts to people whom you think would make good use of them. Make sure you don't give it back to the source!

Want to give food as gifts? - Try homemade rather than store-bought. Homemade delicacies will be appreciated more than store-bought food and will cost you much less.

Buy in bulk - If you have a lot of people on your Christmas shopping list, and you aren't certain about what they like, consider buying items in bulk. You can purchase multiple sets of gifts like t-shirts, candles, or foodstuffs. These types of gifts are ideal if you have co-workers, employees, or sets of acquaintances. Sometimes, stores also offer discounts for buyers who buy wholesale or many items at once.

Be pragmatic and strike out names - It may sound mean-spirited but you don't really have to buy for every person around you. Sometimes you really need to shorten your Christmas shopping list to make it more manageable especially when you have a limited budget.

Clustering - Also, try to cluster the people on your Christmas list. Instead of buying for every co-worker, why not give them just one large gift - like a cake? Or instead of buying for every aunt or uncle, why not give them gifts as a couple?

No-gift season? - Make an agreement with your family members that no one should spend more than a certain amount for gifts (setting a price cap for gifts). You can even go the charitable route: instead of giving each other gifts, why not send much-needed "presents" (food, clothing, toys) to charitable organizations?

Nov. 15: Pacquiao vs. Cotto

The much awaited fight of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao against the Puerto Rican champ Miguel Cotto is only 11 days from now. Both are in good shapes and well-prepared. Who will win the fight? Of course for Filipinos it will be Pacman but better to wait for the fight and watch what these 2 renowned boxers has to offer to boxing fanatics and who is who. Read here.

In relation to Pacman’s upcoming fight, congressmen are urged to skip watching live the said bout. Important bills are yet to pass (not possible without a quorum) and their constituents are still devasted and in dire need of their support especially for rehabilitation.

Sad to say that appeal like this has to be made to politicians in power. Well I guess due to old age of many they tend to forget that they are public servants and the Filipino people are their top priority. Do they need to get negative public opinion? If so, voters take note of those irresponsible and insensitive leaders. They do not deserve to be voted or re-elected. Don’t sell your votes. Vote wisely for your own sake.

Cheryl Cosim et al victims of road rage

Cheryl Cosim, broadcaster and TV anchor, was now one of the statistics of the police regarding road rage incidents. Cheryl together with her husband and in-laws who came from a vacation and beating her work schedule met in the road an irresponsible and rude gun owner in the name of Richard Castro Ordonez who owns a Nissan Cefiro with plate number XPY497.

It was really traumatic for Cheryl where Mr. Ordonez cut them, walked out of his car, got near to them and pointed them his unlicensed gun. Check out the news video here.

According to reports, said Mr. Ordonez owns 7 guns and all of these have expired licenses. Gun owners who have temper like of Mr. Ordonez must not be given permission to have and carry a gun. With just one wrong move he might take a life out of just a simple road incident and of his unruly attitude.

Cheryl already filed cases (grave threat and illegal possession of firearms) on fleeing Mr. Ordonez. May the authorities issue immediately a travel ban on this individual to let him face the consequences of his action. And may our authorities acted on different incidents regardless of civil status.

Christmas decors @ Dapitan Arcade

Christmas is nearing and Filipinos, no matter what happens, will surely find ways to feel and celebrate it. One very common tradition is the Christmas décor we put on our homes. I do understand that these items are bit expensive in malls especially on some classy stores. But in Manila there is a place where you can shop for Christmas decors at prices that suits your budget.

The Dapitan Arcade (Kanlaon St. corner Dapitan St.) in Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City is a place where you can find stuff for your house, season items and not. It is a great place for Christmas shoppers because it is not crowded, wide selection of good stuff and bargain prices.

Check items here.
