Philippines' cheaper medicines bill

It was on the news that the much-awaited cheaper medicines bill had already been ratified by the House of Congress and the Senate. The bill is just waiting for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s signature to become a law prior to its full implementation.

But do the Filipino people need to rejoice already for this news??? I guess partly yes. We just heard over the news the content of this bill and even some politicians are in doubt on the outcome of this bill. The completeness of our happiness, as buyers and users of medicines, depends on the efficiency and effectiveness of this cheaper medicines bill to us once implemented. The cost nowadays of medicines is really terrible and painstaking to all of us especially to senior citizens.

Of course, it’s better to be optimistic with it because its high-time that our lawmakers protect the consuming public. The prices of basic commodities are going high, the increase in income of employees is unsure and there are still claims of corruption.

This cheaper medicine bill is only one of the so many clear manifestations of GMA together with her cohorts in the congress and senate treating the Filipino people as idiots. This bill is nothing and only a lip service. What the Filipinos need now is the Effective Medicine Bill. Please follow reading here for more truths.
